Arttoo Trading

Overview

Arttoo Trading is a web-based application designed to facilitate the listing and trading of artwork powered by blockchain technologies. It provides liquidity to collectors and democratizes art investing, featuring an art directory, listing details, and an owner dashboard, as well as a smart contract for minting fungible tokens.

I joined Arttoo as a founding member and designed the initial MVP of the trading platform product. I led a team of 4 developers and 1 designer to complete the implementation of the product.

Phase I: Product Definition

I began by translating user research and market insights into a clear problem statement and product vision. I wrote a structured PRD that outlined key user stories, edge cases, success metrics, and technical considerations (including smart contract integration and high-value asset listing needs). This helped ensure alignment across engineering, design, and business stakeholders from day one.

Phase II: UX Design & Mockup

Next, I created initial user flow diagrams and low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to explore core interactions such as wallet connection, artwork listing, and auction bidding. I collaborated closely with our designer to refine the UI, ensuring the product felt accessible and trustworthy while supporting the complexity of blockchain-backed assets.

Phase III: Technical Planning

Alongside our engineers, I drafted backend design docs that defined system architecture, data models for tokenized artwork, and user verification workflows. I helped break down features into sprint-sized engineering tasks and facilitated technical discussions around infrastructure trade-offs and smart contract interactions.

• Log in/ Sign up Flow: Lets users log in/sign up with email or wallet

• KYC Verification Flow: Lets users to enter personal information for KYC verification to comply with regulatory standards and ensure transaction security

• Artwork Directory Page: lists all available artworks

• Artwork Detail Page: displays detailed information about a selected artwork, including provenance documents, valuation reports, and artist historical data; also includes detailed analysis of past auction sales, providing insights for investment or trading decisions.

• Owner Dashboard/ Portfolio Page: provides an overview of the user's art portfolio, displaying total worth, holdings, and key metrics for effective portfolio management.

Phase IV: Agile Implementation & Iteration

We ran agile sprints with weekly planning, daily standups, and async updates. I served as the glue across engineering and design, unblocking decisions, collecting feedback, and ensuring that timelines aligned with our go-to-market plans. By combining rapid iteration with cross-functional alignment, we were able to launch the MVP 50% faster than planned, setting the product for success when it listed and sold the first $88K painting.
